‘Opening minds, Opening Doors’
This session looks at its core at disability legislation, best practice and understanding of barriers for delivery and how to overcome them.
The course aims: delegates too
- understand current law and the breadth of discrimination
- understand the aims of the Social model of disability and how this impacts on service delivery and/or workforce capability
- understand the breadth of disability i.e. invisible disabilities, impact of conditions and extent of disability in the UK
- feel confident in delivering a best practice service ‘what to say and do’
- understand the barriers faced by people with a disability and how to overcome them; this includes capability, attitude and values
- understand their role and responsibility in eliminating discrimination and promoting opportunity in your organisation
This course is aimed at all staff and would form an excellent part of induction, NVQ or refreshment training. Alternatively it can be designed for department management, for example designed to support HR, Customer Care or Operational management work practices.
Outcomes for delegates and organisations can be provided.
